Manipulating Time in Cinema

Which way of showing or changing time in film do you think is most powerful, and how would you use it in one of your own projects?

I think that the most powerful way of show or change time in film would be the time-lapsed, becuase is a creative and most used technique that might represent and tell the public what is happening in terms on how long does the time past, (weeks/months/years) and the mood of the clip. Depending on how is being used, because it might have many meanings according to the movie. I would use it in a project as a way to show various clips of a passage when is day and night and its fast way showing how much time passed after an event. For example, when doing a video showing at first a little girl and adding time-lapsed to pass to the clip when she is older.
